Since the last core update in November 2021, Google is rolling out this new May 2022 core update. Nothing has changed much as Google is giving the same guidance as it gave in 2019 and 2021 core updates. To sum it up, following are some of the general Google advice regarding core updates:

  • Expect changes in rankings.
  • ‘Broad Core Update’ means Google is not targeting any specific industry, rather the update is for all the industries over the web.
  • Drop in rankings does not mean these pages are penalized or of bad quality, it simply means other pages are doing much better in terms of content and SEO since last update.
  • Delivering/publishing quality content is the only way to deal with the impact of a core algorithm update. Google also favours quality content.
  • Working on content and SEO do not guarantee recovery, however, choosing not to work towards improvement will virtually guarantee no recovery.

    • It’s being 6 months since the last Google core update rolled out and webmasters who are working hard on their website from then may start to see some noticeable improvements in the rankings of their websites. On the other hand, webmaster who gave up and sat idle may definitely begin to see themselves outranked by the websites with more relevant content published.
